With a rich history, a multitude of museums and cathedrals, along with the world famous Coliseum, Rome is one of Italy’s prime tourist destinations.
Every year, thousands of us flock to the city to take in the sights, sounds and splendour of the Eternal City – be it to drink in the artistic culture or enjoy a drink of fine coffee in pleasant little cafes dotted around the city.
But what’s the best way of exploring this ancient city? With flights to Rome available from all over Europe, many take advantage of budget airlines in order to reach and explore the ancient city.
There are a wide range of hotels in Rome to cater for all tastes, whether you’re looking for a city centre hotel or a youth hostel on the outskirts of the ancient city. For many, a gentle stroll around Rome can be a nice way to relax, however, there are those who prefer to explore the city and get a bit of gentle exercise by cycling around the streets and pathways.
Rome has one of the largest areas of public parks and nature reserves in Europe, making it one of the most cycle-friendly destinations if you’re looking to holiday on two wheels as well as two feet. Indeed, many of the city centre roads are closed to automobiles during every second Sunday – usually ranging from May to September – which allows tourists the opportunity to explore Rome whilst remaining environmentally friendly.
Exploring Rome by bicycle can be a great way of keeping fit whilst taking in the sights, and with a multitude of inner city parks and recognisable sights – including the Coliseum and the Arch of Constantine – as well as a wide variety of architectural styles dotted around the city.

So whether you’re looking for a stroll around the Sistine or taking in a night at the opera, Rome has something for everyone to enjoy, be it ancient history or modern culture.
